The Bible states that in Christ we have become a “new creation,” and that God has made provision for the healing of our body, soul, and spirit through the work of the cross. Appropriating all God has for us, however, is not without a fight. The remnants of our sin nature conspire to prevent us from living out of our new nature and receiving the promises of God.
To make matters worse, we are continually opposed by spiritual forces that work to arouse our sin nature in order to bring about our defeat. Paul spoke of this spiritual battle when telling the Ephesian believers:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Eph. 6:12).
These spiritual forces seek to bring us under control and away from God, which is why they must be resisted (cf. Eph. 4:27; Jas. 4:7). Ultimately, we can only do this in the strength of our Lord.
Our cooperation with God in denying our sin nature and combating spiritual realities is essential if we are to appropriate healing and wholeness for our lives. This calls for principles to be applied, beliefs to be upheld, and promises to be received.
In this teaching, Jeremy will outline the biblical nature of healing and deliverance, and will provide us with a balanced approach and practical application for journeying with God towards personal healing and wholeness.
