What makes a study of First Corinthians of such importance for believers today – is the way in which the Apostle Paul who wrote it – addresses the same problems that plague our modern churches.
Some of the issues Paul targets in his epistle include sexual immorality, moral laxness, and lawsuits among believers.
It’s no secret that Corinth occupied a place in the ancient world where sexual immorality of every kind was tolerated. This was on account of the prostitution that was imbedded in the pagan worship present there. Moreover, some of the spirit of Corinth had crept into the church Paul had started and had manifested in sexual sin and moral laxness among some of its members.
Paul was aware that if left unchecked, these would erode the life of the Spirit within the congregation and the freedom Jesus brings.
Another concern was the way in which certain members were taking fellow members to the secular courts to settle disputes instead of resolving them in a way that would honour God.
In this teaching, Jeremy draws from First Corinthians chapters 5 and 6 to outline the dangers of remaining in sin after coming to Christ along with Paul’s apostolic corrective.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Jeremy is from New Zealand, and at the age of 23, he was born again and baptised in the Holy Spirit. Called to the ministry, he left his career as a chef and gained a Bachelor of Ministries and a Master of Theology degree.
Jeremy served as a pastor in Singapore for nearly a decade before returning to his homeland, and now serves the Body of Christ through an itinerant teaching, preaching and prophetic ministry.
