The doctrine of divine healing is both controversial and polarising. Some Christian groups believe that it is always God’s will to heal. Other groups state that the miraculous ability to heal was only given to the apostles, and that after their passing, healing gifts were withdrawn from the Church. Between the two extremes are a host of divergent views and perspectives.

Regardless of where we stand in our own convictions, what is undeniable is that Christians get sick and suffer. What is also undeniable is that prayers for the sick do not elicit predictable results. As a result of prayer, some have received a healing touch on their mind or body. Others have not received the hoped-for results.

That Jesus came to minister to every dimension of our human existence – body, soul, and spirit – is highlighted for us in the New Testament. And yet our lives lived in a fallen world are not without complexities where our wrestle with sin is constant.

The issue of suffering is not an abstract one but a felt experience. And when a Christian is suffering, we can inflict further pain onto them through the comment that if they just had enough faith, God would resolve their struggle.

What is a biblically responsible answer to this? Does the Bible even teach all will be healed?

In this teaching, Jeremy will present a theology of healing, which upholds a belief that a provision for healing has been made available in the atonement, while seeking to understand why some don’t get healed.

Topics covered, include:

The Doctrine of Sin and God’s Response to it
The Kingdom Mandate of Jesus
The doctrine of Healing
The Nature of Spiritual Bondage
Arriving at an Adequate Theology of Healing
