Christmas has been celebrated for almost 2,000 years.  As we prepare to celebrate Jesus' birth, let us understand the deeper significance of this event.

The world, by and large, celebrates Christmas without knowing, nor caring, about the tremendous spiritual forces at work. After thousands of years since promising that He will send the "Seed of Eve" to crush the Serpent's head (Gen.3:15) God ushered in His plan on Earth through sending His Son (the Word), not as a warrior but as a human child through Mary. Satan must have been delighted, and besides himself. he, too, is a careful student of God's Word and had been studying God's every move since the Promise.  How could a child of a woman even hope to take him on, a cherub that was the most beautiful and powerful of God's angelic hosts?

The huge stake God laid on Himself through the Incarnation of His Son, Jesus, must have come as a surprise to Satan. Satan's tactic has always been through strength and power. He knows nothing about weakness. In fact he despises weakness. That Jesus came in "weakness" as a babe in a manger may have surprised him. However, as we study the Bible, God's way is often strength manifested through "weakness." God defeated Satan at the Cross. Satan could never understand this; when Satan thought he had won through Jesus' crucifixion, he lost big time.  In fact Satan fulfilled all of God's plan though he had been attempting to thwart God's move at every turn.

The speaker will review OT events leading to Christmas, the birth of our Saviour, and the following issues in this talk:

1.When was God's plan to send His Son first announced in the Bible? Was it in Luke 1:26 when God sent the angel Gabriel to Mary?
2. Was Jesus really born on December 25th?
3. Can we determine the actual date of Jesus' birth and trace the origin of 25th December as Christmas?  Should we celebrate Christmas if December 25th is not the actual birthday of our Lord?
4. A brief review of key events in the OT of God's plan to fulfil Gen.3:15, and Satan's effort to thwart God's plan.
5. What's Israel's role in God's plan? What's the Church's?
6. As we observe tumultuous events happening in the world today, what's God's next move, and the progression of God's plan?

You will be encouraged to hold on firmly to God's Word as we see God's prophetic timeline unfolding.  Jesus came once. He will come again.  His 2nd Coming is inextricably linked to His 1st. Christmas is the reason.  God will keep His Promise!
