Extra-biblical ideas, teachings and practices are those which claim to be of the Bible, but in reality have scanty or no biblical support and basis. These extra-biblical concepts — e.g. divine revelation and heaven and hell, and the courts of heaven, etc. — are nothing new, having been around in one form or another, for centuries.
How truly extra-biblical are these concepts? Why do they keep recurring, and draw the attention and interest of believers?
In this seminar, we will look into what counts as extra-biblical teaching, its danger; along with how they should be treated and addressed. In the course of our discussion, we will examine some historical examples, and evaluate some contemporary concerns.
