In contrast to the Old Testament timeline that spanned over a thousand years, the New Testament books narrate a time span of less than a hundred years. These 27 books of the New Testament take place during a period of dramatic political, cultural, and religious transformation.
To properly understand, interpret and apply the New Testament scriptures, we have to
1. Know what it was like living as a Christian in those days
2. Know the major historical events that formed the backdrop to the New Testament
3. Know the cultural and societal difference between them and us today
This talk will help you to read and understand the NT better by providing you with the information, tools and resources to tackle the three points above.
About Stephen Chan
Stephen Chan was a Technology Operations Manager in a large investment bank for more than 10 years before God called him out to be a teacher of the Bible.
He has been serving in Bedok Methodist Church’s Children Ministry and working with youths and their parents since 2009.
Although Stephen has taught the Bible to children from P1 to Secondary Schools, his passion is in equipping parents to mentor and lead their children in a life of faith in Jesus Christ.
Stephen has taught in Vacation Bible Camps, Youth Camps and spoken in churches and given public talks on a variety of topics and issues ranging from leading family devotions, effective bible study, sexual purity, parenting, video gaming and cyber wellness.
