We live in a stressful world. Stress and burnout are real threats to our emotional, physical and spiritual health.
It has been reported that Singaporeans work longer hours and sleep less than people from other nations. Workers return home drained and fatigued, yet have to cope with children and attend to household chores, while others have to continue working till late at night from home.
A national survey revealed that about 13% of the population had evidence of poor mental health, with young adults from ages 18-29 having the highest proportion of mental symptoms. This age group also saw the biggest increase in the prevalence of poor mental health from 16.5 per cent to 21.5 per cent.
Stress can trigger a great number of psychiatric problems. Without doubt, we must learn how to cope with stress before we become its victim. There are many approaches to managing your stress and preventing burnout. The best method is to do it God’s way. Find out what God has to say about how to survive and thrive in a stressful world.
