Most common mental illnesses last for many years. In order to provide support to such individuals, do remember that the illness resembles a marathon rather than a 100- metre dash. Be prepared for the long haul.
So how do you support such individuals emotionally and spiritually and not suffer burnout in the process?
-Practical tips are provided in a step-by-step approach as you begin your journey with the individual.
-Learn about what are the helpful things to say, and what you should not say.
-What about emergency situations? How do you deal with them?
-How should you respond to someone who voices suicidal thoughts?
-When is the right time to introduce the patient to your cell group or church? Are there possible pitfalls?
There will be a Q&A after the talk, so come with your questions!
