Whenever we speak about the topic of God’s judgments, Christians tend to swing to two opposing directions. Either they ignore incidents of God’s severe judgments in the Bible or they react with an unhealthy fear of His punishments. Preachers avoid this topic for fear of looking like a doom or gloom preacher. Pastors rather focus on the kinder aspects of His character as if God’s wrath and judgment are somewhat a blemish in His character. Evangelists sometimes use this as a tool to frighten people into the kingdom. There is so much ambiguity and ignorance around the judgments of God, no wonder believers react in such bizarre ways!
In my experience when believers have a poor understanding of God as a Judge, it results in an uncertain, wary relationship with Someone who might or might not punish them. It's time to get clarity on this crucial issue. In this condensed course, we first examine the key concepts of God as a Judge and His judgments in relation to the finished work of the Cross. We will discover together how to love and come into agreement with God’s judgments. Before the Lord judges the world, He will first judge His own household. We lean in together to hear the judgments that the Spirit is saying to the churches today. Finally, we discover what the Word says about the Great White Throne judgment at the end of the age.
