There are 57 in the book of Acts, 74 in Romans, 96 in Matthew and more than 200 in the book of Revelations. In total there are more than 800 quotations from the Old Testament found in the New Testament.

Clearly, to fully understand the New Testament we absolutely have to know the back story in the Old Testament. Yet, understanding the Old Testament is not without challenges.

Besides difficulties with the language, fragmented stories, and ancient cultural references, many also find it hard to draw out lessons from the text.
For example
*What do we do with the hundreds of laws that are surely not applicable today?
*What do the countless wars in ancient Israel have to do with us today?
*How do books like Job, Song of Solomon and Ecclesiastes fit in?
*How do we study the Psalms and live out the Proverbs?
*Who are the prophets and do their prophecies matter to us?

This talk will help you overcome some of these hurdles by presenting the Old Testament from a new perspective that is clearer, deeper and richer. Conducted in an informal and easy to follow setting, it will
*Put the main story into focus by re-organizing the critical books
*Help you understand the different types of OT books
*Equip you with critical historical and cultural background information

Above all, you will gain a better picture of the heart and character of God through a dramatic re-telling of the Old Testament stories.
