About Dr Mendis
Dr Lalith Mendis was the former Professor of Medicine Unit in Colombo Medical Faculty, Sri Lanka. He is also a Lecturer in Pharmacology, North Colombo Medical College.
As a pharmacologist, Dr Mendis had been tracking the effects of prescription drugs used to medicate children in particular ADHD children to obtain conformity while failing to meet the child's needs in the home, school and society. Instead of meeting the normal needs of the child, drugs are used in supressing them.
The child is deprived of learning primarily how to GROW IN PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND SELF DIRECTION. Instead, the child is taught to believe 'I have ADHD and I need a pill to control myself'. The long term effects may lead to drug dependency, while developing into other adverse reactions requiring antidepressants, mood stabilisers and antipsychotic drugs added to their daily drug dose.
Dr Lalith's findings offers prevention and remedy for inattention, agitated behaviour caused by ADHD, ADD, Autism, Addictions to television & digital games through retraining of the brain wiring by developing empathic remedial procedures, away from drugs.
